Conditions of Arab Before the advent of Islam

Before the advent of Islam, especially at the time of birth of the Holy Prophet S.A.W.S, the people of Arabia were indulged in all sorts of evils. They did not worship any definite type of God, but rather worshiped Idols of various kinds and of their own choice. They used to start worship any object which attracted them. Socially, their conditions were miserable. Birth of a baby girls was considered as a sign of disgrace, therefore, they buried their girls alive at the time of their birth. The burial of the alive girls was considered to be sign of honor in the society. Women were badly treated. Even their own women were behaved like slaves. Moral degradation was on its escalation. The widows of the late fathers was often married with their sons, because it was taken as the property of the family. Adultery and vulgarity was very common. Vulgar poetry was uttered in public places. 

Animals were kept with cruelty. Sometimes, for the purpose of entertainment, an animal was leashed with a tree, and archery was exercised on body parts of that animal.
